Default Assassin/Ritualist

One of my characters is an Assassin/Ritualist. I've always stuck closer to the Assassin element than the Ritualist one, but I want to give that side of my character a bigger role. However, I find that very difficult when my character is forever bound to no more than 25 mana. And Assassins are meant to sweep in, inflict quick powerful damage, and get back out. Ritualists take their time casting spells that deal damage over time or heal over time. The reason I made an Assassin/Ritualist in the first place was to use both new Factions professions at the same time since I have limited character space. The only Ritualist skill that's really been of any use to me is Brutal Weapon.

What is a good build for an Assassin/Ritualist? I'm primarily looking for PvE, although I may move to PvP later. But for now, I'm just looking for a way to effectively combine Assassins and Ritualists. When I first made my character, I had a vision of a Ninja who summoned spiritual creatures to his aid, in a Naruto-esqe fashion, but it turned out nothing like that.

sins are ment for melee, not for being casters and summoning spirits.

Well the way a primary assassin synergizes with a Ritualist secondary is through the use of Weapon Spells, and even then, you're better off having them being placed on you by a hero most of the time. You can use Vital Weapon to give yourself high health and become technically invisible to the enemy AI.

One A/Rt build I enjoy which is quite fun is Vampire's Promise.

Dagger Mastery 8 +1
Critical Strikes 7 + 1
Channeling Magic 8
Deadly Arts 12 + 2 + 1

Also I'd recommend you to get a 5e inscription for your daggers. The +%15 damage mod only works on your base damage, meaning your weapon only does like 1 or 3 more damage, so it's pretty useless IMO. That'd pump your energy to 30, use a mix of Survivor and Radiant Insignia, a Rune of Attunement and you got yourself around 35-36 energy easily with a good HP mark.

The only other MAIN Secondary you would use is /D For Crit Scythe, Otherwise sins do most with no secondary, just use a secondary for support. (i.e. Save Yourselves!)

You are not picking 2 main professions. You are picking a primary and a secondary. Don't try to play two characters at once because it doesn't work. Play like an Assassin and pick Rit skills to round off your bar (notice how the above bar uses daggers to deal damage, and Rit weapon spells to assist with damage).

Deadly arts can be of great help, but im afraid A/Rt isn't a great combo. Just use assassin-only skills for now, I guess.

If you wanna play two "professions" at once, try picking Way of the Master and pick up a Spear or a Scythe. Otherwise go Mesmer, there's a bunch of Me/E and such out there (which ends up being boring anyways).

Erm... I didn't mean literally using two at once. XD I just wanted to taste both Assassin and Ritualist without using two character slots.

Here is my current build:

Shadow Refuge, Unsuspecting Strike, Fox Fangs, Twisted Fangs, Painful Bond, Pain, Brutal Weapon, Resurrection Signet

Pain and Painful Bond don't see much usage. It's mostly just Brutal Weapon. I'm thinking about replacing Painful Bond and Pain with Channeled Strike and Cruel was Daoshen. Would that be a good idea?

It would be a better idea to run a mainly Assassin skillbar without trying to use too many Rit skills. It's going to trash your efficiency.

Brutal Weapon really isn't that good for an Assassin, seeing as how it only affects you if you aren't enchanted and one of the primary skills utilized by most PvE 'Sins is Critical Agility. Swap it for Nightmare Weapon or Splinter Weapon if you absolutely have to carry a weapon spell with you to feel like your secondary is being useful.

@ Tyrael: I'm under the impression OP does not have access to all campaigns (eg NF), so Crit Agility might not be relevant in this thread.

@ OP: get your hands on NF.

No. You'd just be replacing two worthless skills with two other worthless skills.

1: get to level 20.
2: try posting attributes next time.
3: get an elite skill, ffs.

I'd really advice against using Twisting Fangs and Fox Fangs.

Fox Fangs has the same effect as Wild Strike, but the latter does 5 more damage and recharges in 4 seconds. Fox Fangs is only better in a few scenarios, where you're able to take advantage of its 1/2 sec activation.

Then Twisting Fangs 15 second recharge means you only get to use it once at all during a confrontation, in PvE this is undesirable, something like Death Blossom which recharges in 2 seconds is more effective. TW is good only in situations where you're able to re-use it right after killing a foe by recharging it with Moebius or Assassin's promise or in PvP where you're spiking once every 15-20 seconds anyways.
